The American Chamber of Commerce opposed the increase in transportation tariffs to the port of Chornomorsk

Members of the American Chamber of Commerce opposed the increase in rail transportation tariffs to Chornomorsk.

Member companies of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (ACC) do not support a significant increase in the cost of rail transportation in the direction of the terminals of the port of Chornomorsk.

The ACC statement states that after the adoption of the order of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia dated January 14, 2025 No. 13 and the resumption of freight rail traffic in the direction of Znamyanka – Pomichna – Kolosivka, tariff distances between transit points were reduced only for individual terminal stations, excluding stations in the direction of the port of Chornomorsk.

The consequence of such a policy of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia is the redistribution of cargo flows in favor of other ports, which leads to negative economic consequences for the region, reduces investment attractiveness and creates a threat of loss of market share, business representatives noted.

Experts from the Chamber’s member companies emphasized the need for an urgent resolution of the issue, as well as ensuring a transparent and effective approach to determining tariff distances for all ports and the equal and competitive functioning of port logistics in Ukraine. Earlier, USM reported that this year the Ministry of Development and Trade may announce a competition for the selection of a concessionaire for the port of Chornomorsk.
