The EU will continue duty-free trade with Ukraine under new conditions

Representatives of the main institutions of the European Union agreed on the continuation of free trade with Ukraine under the conditions of compliance with the new restrictions.

Duty-free import of Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU will be continued subject to compliance with restrictions on some goods. “European Truth” writes about it.

We are talking about poultry meat, eggs, sugar, corn, cereals and honey. Exports of these goods should not exceed the level of average volumes observed in the period from mid-2021 to the end of 2023. If imports of these products exceed the average volumes of the base period, the tariffs may be reimposed.

On April 8, the European Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament agreed on new conditions for duty-free trade with Ukraine. Now EU parliamentarians have to vote for them separately.

Efforts in the EU aimed at limiting Ukrainian agricultural imports were led by Poland and France.

As USM previously wrote, due to the trade compromise with the EU, Ukraine may lose 86 million euros
