The SBU liquidated a corruption scheme related to the “grain agreement”
The SBU eliminated a corruption scheme in the Main Department of the State Production and Consumer Service in Odesa region. The participants of the scheme demanded money from exporters of agricultural products.
“Participants of the settlement demanded money from representatives of companies that export Ukrainian agricultural products within the framework of the “grain agreement”. For bribes, they “guaranteed” grain traders the unhindered receipt of phytosanitary certificates of compliance for their products,” the press service reports.
For refusing to pay “tribute”, they threatened to prolong the bureaucratic procedures as much as possible.
The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that one of the participants in the scheme (intermediary of officials) from the fall of 2022 to March 21, 2023, while in Izmail, demanded and received a bribe of 12,200 USD.
With these funds, the suspect promised to influence the officials of the Odesa Regional Phytosanitary Laboratory and the State Production and Consumer Service in the Odesa region to issue phytosanitary certificates for corn exported by a private enterprise.
The law enforcement officers detained him while receiving part of the bribe in the amount of 2,500 USD.
