Turkey plans to conclude an agreement on the import of liquefied natural gas from the United States in order to reduce dependence on Russian raw materials.
Turkey is currently negotiating with the American energy company ExxonMobil, the FT reports.
This is a multi-billion-dollar deal for the purchase of LNG, as Turkey plans to reduce its dependence on energy carriers from the Russian Federation.
Turkey currently imports almost all its natural gas from Russia.
According to Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Turkey can receive up to 2.5 million tons of LNG per year if the contract with Exxon is signed.
