UDS continues repair of dry cargo “Izmail”

The ship “Izmail” is being prepared to be sent to the place of repair.
The radio navigation and emergency rescue equipment was replaced on the Izmail dry cargo ship. Now the ship can go to the dock, reported the UDS.
“A month ago, we reported that our experts are optimistic – despite all existing technical problems, there is a prospect of Izmail’s recovery. This is true, but in the process of checking systems and units, we discover more and more weak points. Unlike “Vilkovo”, auxiliary diesel generators will have to be restored. The tenant did not take care of their repair. Most likely, we are also waiting for more large-scale works on the hull, compared to “Vilkovo”, – says the message.
It will be recalled that the lessee handed over the last of the three sea vessels to the UDS in October 2023. Then it turned out that the technical condition of “Izmail” was worse than experts expected. In particular, the documentation period for the emergency and rescue equipment has expired, and the tenant did not inform about it in advance.
As previously reported by USM, during unloading in Burgas (Bulgaria), the ship “Izmail” received an order to return to Ukraine. The captain thought that the sailors wanted to be “mobilized and sent to the front” by a ruse, and refused to carry out the order.
