UDS starts construction of new SLG barges based on old lighters
PJSC “Ukrainian Danube Shipping” spoke about the results of ship repairs in May. In a month, the company’s plant repaired a tugboat, a ship and eight barges.
In particular, in May, the pusher tug “Oleshki” (old name “Chelyabinsk”) and the self-propelled dry cargo ship “Olexiy Ivlev” were launched from the factory slip. The Kilia plant of UDS also completed the repair of 8 barges, including full painting of the hull.
Currently, there are 4 barge sections undergoing dock repair.
“The production areas of our plant are fully engaged! The Kilia plant of UDS is in a hurry with the repair program, because in the coming days the construction of new SLG barges based on the old lighters will start. Preparations for the start of the project have been completed, the donor vessels are ready for cutting, permission to start work has been received,” reported the UDS.
In total, since the beginning of the year, 17 overhauls have been carried out at the Kili plant: 7 units of the self-propelled fleet and 10 units of the non-self-propelled fleet (most with full hull painting) with presentation to the Register class. 12 barges were also repaired between voyages.
“This week, the motor ship “Captain Zhidkov” came to the plant for further repairs with a large amount of work. The arrival of two more tugs – “Sorokine” (Krasnodon) and “Feodosia” (Orenburg) – is expected next week. Work on preparation for modernization with the replacement of the main engines on the ship “Captain Babkin” is ongoing, – the UDS summarized.
