Ukraine is negotiating the presence of allies in the Black Sea — MFA

Kyiv is discussing with partners the possibility of deploying an allied contingent in the Black Sea and Ukrainian skies within the framework of future security guarantees.

Ukraine is already holding talks on the possible presence of allies in the Black Sea. This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi during a briefing, Ukrinform reports.

“Any long-term security must provide for an increased presence of our allies in the Black Sea and in the air. We are already talking about this with them in negotiations and believe that this is a serious topic that requires discussion,” the diplomat noted.

According to him, these issues may be raised at the European Council meeting on March 6, as well as at other international meetings. However, so far, there are no specific details — regarding the number, locations of deployment, and format of the possible contingent.

“There is a broad European discussion in which Ukraine participates, and within its framework, different countries express their opinions,” the Foreign Ministry spokesman added.

As USM reported, earlier, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer proposed to US President Donald Trump a peacekeeping plan to deploy European troops to Ukrainian ports.
