Ukraine plans to introduce sanctions against Syria. One of the main reasons for this decision was the export of stolen grain from Ukraine to Syria. Also, the Syrian government continues to justify Russian aggression and supplies the terrorist country with weapons. This was announced by the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyridenko.
Sanctions against Syria will last 50 years. In particular, Ukraine plans to prohibit the entry of ships under the flag of Syria into the territorial sea of Ukraine, its internal waters and ports. Ukraine will also limit trade operations with residents of Syria.
Earlier, sanctions were already introduced against the head of Syria, Bashar Assad. Ukraine broke off diplomatic relations with the Syrian Arab Republic and is currently canceling interstate agreements concluded in previous years. The issue of economic relations with Syria will be closed — and for a long time, Svyridenko emphasized.
We will remind you that last year Syria increased the import of wheat from the occupied Crimea 17 times – to more than 500,000 tons. Such volumes make up almost a third of the total import of grain into the country.
