Ukrainian Navy is investigating the “undermining” of a Turkish ship by a mine in the Black Sea
Investigations are currently underway regarding the detonation of a Turkish cargo ship by a mine in the Black Sea off the coast of Romania.
It is already known that it was definitely not a mine, stated the spokesman of the Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk.
The incident occurred on October 5 at 12:20 Kyiv time near the mouth of the Danube, 11 nautical miles north of the city of Sulyn, near the entrance to the Sulyn estuary.
“We are currently investigating what kind of incident it was, but it was definitely not an anti-ship mine. There was an incident. The reasons for it are now being analyzed by the Romanian side. There is an ongoing investigation, so [it is not possible] to divulge any information. From our side, the only thing we can determine is 100% that it was not an anti-ship mine,” said Pletenchuk.
He also added that the Russian Federation can mine even near its shores, but it is not yet possible to say that mine danger has increased.
