USPA has chosen a new pilot ship for ports on the Danube

A pilot boat from USAID will soon start working in the port of Reni.

This was announced by the Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The new pilot vessel, which was built in Ukraine with the full funding of USAID, was handed over to the Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine.

“In the near future, this vessel will start work in the port of Reni. An additional ship means the possibility of increasing ship calls and this is one of the mechanisms of the strategy for the development of the ports of the Danube cluster. Last year, the ports of Reni, Izmail, and Ust-Dunaisk took over a third of all cargo traffic. Over the past 4 months, the Danube ports have processed more than 5.5 million tons of cargo, of which 4 million tons are for export,” the minister noted.

He also added that the Ministry of Reconstruction systematically cooperates with American partners on the development of the port cluster. Thanks to this, equipment for the protection of critical infrastructure facilities of seaports was brought in, special equipment for cargo handling was handed over, and additional financing was brought in for logistics development projects in the region.

It should be noted that the handover of the vessel took place with the participation of USAID Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman and Ms. Bridget Brink, the US Ambassador.

We will remind, as of March 3, 3.7 million tons of goods were exported through the Danube ports since the beginning of 2024.
