Vitalii Koval: Ukrainian meal is displacing Russian products from the markets
The specialty of this year’s export was Ukrainian meal, which is gradually displacing Russian meal from the world market.
The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitalii Koval told about this in an interview with LIGA.net.
According to him, this year on the world market of secondary products of oil processing, meal is a feature, thanks to which Ukraine is displacing Russian products from the markets.
“This is just one of the illustrations of the increasing share of processing in exports.
In this, we must pay tribute to the agrarian business of Ukraine – it was rebuilt in accordance with the new conditions. We see the intensification of production as technology makes the harvest more controlled. There are no more hopes for a harvest – there is a clear understanding of how to ensure it,” Vitaliy Koval said.
In particular, Ukrainian business is moving into a model of industrial, intensive production.
The minister also emphasized that exports from Ukraine are growing – the dynamics are assessed as positive.
“This year the growth is 4%. This is an increase of almost one billion US dollars – 800 million, to be exact,” the official commented.
It should be noted that according to the results of the 2023/24 MR, Ukraine secured 11% of all import batches of the main types of meal, supplying 2.1 million tons of these products to EU countries. In 2021/22 MR, this figure was only 5% (1.1 million tons).
Also, according to the European Commission, in July 2024, the EU did not import Russian sunflower meal, preferring Ukrainian (78%) and Argentine (14%).
As USM recently reported, the cost of sunflower meal is increasing in Ukrainian ports.
