100-year deal: Britain to help Ukraine with maritime security and track grain thefts
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Keir Starmer signed the Agreement on the 100-Year Partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
The Agreement on the 100-Year Partnership was signed in Kyiv by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Ukrinform reports.
“Today is a truly historic day. Relations between Ukraine and the United Kingdom are closer than ever. We have reached a new level, this is more than a strategic relationship. We have signed the Agreement on the 100-Year Partnership,” Zelenskyy said.
This document will deepen bilateral relations in the defense sector and provides for further military assistance from the British.
The historic agreement provides, in particular, for enhanced military cooperation in the field of maritime security through a new structure to strengthen the security of the Baltic, Black and Azov Seas and deter aggression by the Russian Federation.
Also as part of the agreement, Britain, at the request of Ukraine, has developed a new scheme for tracking grain stolen from Ukrainian fields in the territories occupied by Russia, which is then relabeled and sold on. In particular, a special database has been created, which will be transferred to Ukraine by the UK Environment Minister.
Earlier, USM reported that Britain will allocate $286 million to strengthen the Ukrainian Navy.
