Russian federation again complains about the “Grain Initiative”: what is known
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the situation regarding the Black Sea Grain Agreement has reached a “dead end”.
During a briefing in New York, russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov once again complained about the Grain Initiative, Radio Svoboda reports.
“The situation regarding the export of food and fertilizers from the Black Sea ports of Ukraine is at a dead end,” Lavrov said.
According to him, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is trying to negotiate with countries that have announced unilateral sanctions against russia, but there are no results.
In particular, “Rossilhospbank” is still disconnected from SWIFT.
As it became known, Guterres appealed to three US banks with a request to help “Rossilhospbank” service russian export agreements. But in a few months, only one of them agreed to finance one operation.
“The West does not want to allow our grain and fertilizers to enter the market,” Lavrov added.
The head of russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that on April 24, Guterres delivered a letter to russian President vladimir putin. According to the UN, the document offers ways to expand and continue the “Grain Agreement” taking into account the positions expressed by the parties.
Similar letters were sent to other participants of the agreement – Ukraine and Turkey.
As previously reported by USM, last week Ukraine asked Turkey to detain a ship with stolen Ukrainian grain, which was delivered from occupied Kerch.
