The Faroe Islands introduced new restrictions against Russian vessels
The government of the Faroe Islands has significantly restricted the access of Russian fishing vessels to its ports.
The government of the Faroe Islands restricted access to its ports to fishing vessels from Russia on July 12. This is reported by World Fishing&Aquaculture.
According to the new sanctions, only those Russian vessels that operate within the framework of the bilateral agreement between the Faroe Islands and the Russian Federation can enter the ports of the autonomous region.
As a reminder, most vessels under the Russian flag do not have access to the ports of the Faroe Islands from July 5, 2022. However, the restrictions did not apply to fishing vessels. Now they are supplemented by a new resolution that entered into force on July 12.
Previously, USM reported that from 2023, another autonomy of the Kingdom of Denmark – Greenland – refused to extend the fishing agreement with Russia.
