The attack of the Russian Federation on the port of Izmail led to a jump in the price of food in the world
After the Russian attack on the port of Izmail on the night of August 2, wheat prices on the Chicago Stock Exchange jumped by 6.5%.
Traders are once again worried about a blow to global supplies due to the displacement of Ukraine, one of the world’s largest exporters, from the market, Reuters writes.
According to the media, the Russian attack on Izmail means that the Kremlin is “increasing the use of force to restore the maritime export blockade of Ukraine.” It is also noted that the port on the Danube served as the main alternative route from Ukraine for the export of grain.
The publication also noted that as of August 1, as a result of the failure of the Grain Agreement, grain exports from Ukraine decreased by 40% for the month.
As USM previously reported, the Izmail district prosecutor’s office initiated a pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war due to the Russian attack on the ports of Odesa Region.
