The US will continue to put pressure on Russia to restore the Grain Agreement
The US plans to continue to pressure the Kremlin in order to force the Russian Federation to return to the Grain Agreement. In turn, the Russians do not yet show such a desire.
“We will continue to pressure Russia to return to the Black Sea Grain Initiative,” US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.
As RBC-Ukraine writes, he also added that the US does not believe Russian denials about the reasons for withdrawing from the agreement. According to him, the export of Russian grain and fertilizers had one of the highest indicators during the Black Sea Initiative.
Miller emphasized that the United States will continue to explain to the rest of the world that Russia is responsible for the failure of the agreement and the bombing of Ukrainian ports.
“Therefore, we will insist on this and call on countries around the world that depend on grain exports from Ukraine and the region to exert diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation,” the representative of the State Department emphasized.
Miller also added that currently Washington does not see any signs of Russia’s willingness to renew its participation in the agreement.
Earlier, USM reported that on July 17, Russia announced the termination of the agreement with Turkey and the UN regarding the Black Sea Grain Initiative. After that, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that it would consider ships going to Ukrainian ports as military targets. Subsequently, Russian troops launched a missile attack on the port infrastructure of Odesa.
