Ukraine discussed the export of Ukrainian grain with Slovakia

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal discussed with the Prime Minister of Slovakia Ludovit Odor the issue of export of Ukrainian agricultural products.

In particular, the parties discussed assistance in removing all restrictions on the export of grain.

According to Shmyhal, “Ukraine offered to jointly implement projects for the development of checkpoints on the common border. This will help strengthen our economic cooperation.”

We will remind you that in May 2023, the European Commission banned the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania at the insistence of these countries. On June 5, the ban was extended until September 15, 2023. These countries want to extend the import ban until the end of the year and expand it to some other goods.

The Ukrainian authorities said that if the European Commission continues the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain after September 15, Kyiv may consider mirror measures.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Ukraine will turn to WTO arbitration in the event that Poland blocks the export of Ukrainian grain.
