The European Commission demands Poland to lift the embargo on Ukrainian grain
Poland received a letter from the European Commission demanding the lifting of the grain embargo from Ukraine.
In the letter, the European Commission demands to cancel the indefinite embargo on the duty-free import of certain agricultural products to Poland, Polish mass media reported with reference to the Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Sekerski.
The president of the Lublin Chamber of Agriculture, Gustav Jendreek, said that he “received signals” about the alleged resumption of imports of four types of grain from Ukraine from January 1.
Sekersky commented that the resolution on the unilateral closure of the border is valid. Meanwhile, Brussels is trying to persuade Poland to resume imports.
“This embargo is indefinite. We are preparing arguments, because we received a letter from the European Commission with a demand to cancel the embargo,” the minister added.
Earlier, USM reported that Polish farmers renewed the blockade of the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint on the border with Ukraine.
