The export of agricultural products fell by 17% in the first half of the 2023/24 MY
Export volumes of agricultural products for the first half of the 2023/24 marketing year amounted to 31 million tons.
After the termination of the Grain Agreement under the auspices of the UN in 2023, Ukraine significantly lost the opportunity to export food. However, exports gradually began to recover, primarily thanks to ensuring the operation of its own grain corridor, reports UCAB.
In December 2023, 7.7 million tons of agricultural products were sent for export, which is 15% more than in November. It is worth considering that not all products managed to physically cross the border and a significant amount of transport is still waiting in queues for departure.
The structure of export of agricultural products in December was as follows:
• grain crops — 5.4 million tons (corn — 64%, wheat — 32%, barley — 4%). Growth compared to last month: +20%;
• oil crops — 774,000 tons (soybeans — 56%, rapeseed — 37%, sunflower seeds — 5%). Growth: -14%.
• vegetable oils — 708.3 thousand tons (sunflower oil — 95%, soybean oil — 4%, rapeseed oil — 2%). Growth: +15%.
• cake after extraction of vegetable oils — 493.7 thousand tons (sunflower — 82%, soybean — 18%). Growth: +7%;
• other types of agricultural products — 401.0 thousand tons (+5%).
In total, since the beginning of the 2023/24 MY, Ukraine has exported 31 million tons of agricultural products. This indicator is 17% less than the same period last year.
