The EU mission visited Odesa seaport

The participants of the European Union Advisory Mission were introduced to the operation of the sea corridor, the Odesa port, and were also shown the consequences of Russian attacks on the port infrastructure.

On Wednesday, February 7, the European Union Advisory Mission on the reform of the civil security sector of Ukraine (EUAM) visited the Odesa port, USPA reports.

Among the participants of the mission are EUAM experts from Sweden – advisor on port operations Erik Froste and advisor on maritime security Kenneth Nynes. They were introduced to the work of the port of Odesa, the sea corridor, and were told and shown the consequences of the damage and destruction of the port infrastructure due to Russian attacks.

The head of the Odesa USPA branch, Denys Karpov, said that over 20 million tons of cargo were exported from the ports of Great Odesa for half a year of operation.

“About 15 million tons are the products of Ukrainian farmers. Since July 18 (the termination of the Grain Initiative), the aggressor country has attacked the port infrastructure more than 30 times. Due to Russian attacks in Ukraine, more than a hundred objects of port infrastructure, more than 300 thousand tons of grain have been damaged or destroyed,” added Denys Karpov.

We are always ready for cooperation, and we count on the support of the world society,” Dmytro Barinov emphasized.

As previously reported by USM, losses from Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports reach UAH 1 billion.
