Decline in grain exports from Ukraine affected freight rates
Rates for grain transportation from the ports of Great Odesa to Mediterranean countries have fallen by an average of two dollars per ton.
Last week, the slowdown in the pace of grain exports by sea from Ukraine led to a decrease in freight rates in some directions. This is reported by APK-Inform.
In particular, the cost of transportation for “coasters” from the ports of the Danube to eastern Italy decreased by $1 per ton. Rates for “handisizes” from the ports of Great Odesa in the same direction fell by an average of $2 per ton.
As of December 18, market rates for transportation from the port of Izmail to Romania are 9-10 euros (1-3 thousand tons). Transportation of Ukrainian grain to the eastern coast of Italy is estimated at 29-30 dollars (5-7 thousand tons).
The cost of freight from the port of Chornomorsk to the eastern coast of Italy is 17-18 dollars (30-35 thousand tons), and to the eastern coast of Spain – 22-24 dollars (25-30 thousand tons). Experts attribute these changes to the dynamics of export deliveries and the influence of external market factors. The day before, USM reported that the situation with grain exports in Ukrainian ports had improved compared to the beginning of December.
