Ukraine remains a key grain supplier to China

China gives preference to Ukrainian agricultural products, even in the presence of alternative offers.

Chinese importers choose Ukrainian agricultural products among other competitors. This was stated by the head of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Ukraine Serhiy Tkachuk, writes Elevatorist.

“I had a meeting with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Ma Shenkun, who expressed sincere gratitude to Ukrainian producers for the high quality of corn, soybeans and barley exported to China. Ukrainian agricultural products have priority among other offers,” Tkachuk emphasized.

According to the official, the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection is actively working to expand cooperation with China. In particular, in the near future Ukraine should gain access to the Chinese market for peas, wheat flour and wheat.

As previously reported by USM, last year Ukraine exported agricultural products to Portugal for $211.6 million.
