Hungary threatens to prevent Ukraine from joining the EU: it is allegedly risky for farmers
In Hungary, it is believed that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union allegedly poses a serious risk to farmers.
Protecting the interests of local farmers from Ukrainian products remains Hungary’s main task. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of Hungary, Istvan Nagy, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“Brussels remains indebted to the EU’s long-term decision. We have not learned more about the encouraging situation now either. That is why our country continues to adhere to the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products,” he wrote on social networks.
Nagy believes that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union poses a serious risk.
“This may have unpredictable and irreversible consequences, will radically change European agriculture and significantly reduce agricultural subsidies, which will ruin Hungarian farmers. We will not allow this,” the minister claims.
Earlier, USM reported that the EU has created the European Council on Agriculture to support farmers.
