Rates on Panamax and barges in the Black Sea are falling

Freight rates were affected by the lack of requests for cargo transportation from Ukraine.

In the segment of “panamaxes” there is a “bearish” trend due to the lack of requests for cargo transportation from Ukraine. This was reported by ASAP Agri analyst and freight broker Atria Brokers Pavlo Lysenko.

Thus, freight rates for the transportation of corn from Ukrainian deep-water ports to South China are currently estimated at 31-32 USD/t.

The barge market also continues to experience a shortage of cargo from the Danube ports of Ukraine. Spot transportation of 1,000-3,000 tons of corn from Izmail or Reni to Constanta is estimated at 8-9 EUR/t.

At the same time, rates for “handysizes” and “costers” have not undergone significant changes, as shipowners resist a further drop in rates due to low incomes. Corn transportation from the ports of Greater Odessa to the East Coast of Italy is estimated at 15-16 USD/t.

The cost of transporting 6,000 tons of corn by “fireworks” from the Danube ports of Ukraine to the East Coast of Italy increased by 1 USD/t compared to last week and is currently 26-28 USD/t.

The day before, USM wrote that 100 million tons of cargo were transported from the ports of Great Odesa during the year and a half of operation of the maritime corridor.
