Russia withdrew its submarine from the Mediterranean Sea

The only Russian submarine present in the Mediterranean Sea is returning to the Baltic Fleet.
On Sunday, April 27, the Russian submarine Krasnodar left the Mediterranean Sea accompanied by the naval tug Evgeny Churov, writes Gospodarka Morska.
The vessel is returning to the Baltic Fleet, as the deployment of the Krasnodar in the Mediterranean Sea has proven ineffective.
“Its movements were actively monitored by aircraft, drones and ships of NATO forces, especially in the eastern part of the sea near the Syrian coast,” notes the Italian naval surveillance website Italmilradar.
The capabilities of the Russian fleet in the Mediterranean Sea have also become very limited without access to the infrastructure of the Syrian port of Tartus, where Russia has established a naval base (the 720th logistics point of the Russian Navy).
In particular, the submarine waited a long time for permission to enter the Syrian port, but never received it. After that, the Krasnodar headed west with the tugboat “Churov” to Algeria – the only Kremlin ally that has a shipyard in this part of the world capable of carrying out the necessary maintenance work on the vessel. It should be noted that currently the Russian naval forces in the Mediterranean have been reduced to a minimum and consist of only a frigate, a corvette and a reconnaissance ship.
