Four Russian oil tankers stand idle off the coast of India amid pressure from the US

At least four oil tankers carrying Russian crude are waiting off India’s west coast, awaiting a decision from Indian refineries.
Bloomberg reported.
The Achilles and Elyte are currently anchored off the Indian city of Jamangarh, behind schedule for their arrival at the port of Sikka between July 30 and 31.
The tankers picked up cargo in late June from the Russian ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga, where Russian Urals crude is typically loaded. Both tankers have been hit by EU and British sanctions.

The Achilles and Elyte, Aframax-type vessels, each hold about 700,000 barrels of oil. The port of Sikka is served by Reliance Industries Ltd. and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd.
Two other tankers, the Destan and the Horae, are also near the coast carrying Russian crude. The Destan, which is under EU and UK sanctions, is anchored and was due to arrive at the port of Sikka between July 24 and 25.
The tanker Horae, which was due to arrive in the city of Vadinar by August 1, is not subject to EU, UK or US sanctions, according to ship tracking data.
The destinations of the tankers, which belong to the Aframax type, may be changed.
As a reminder, Indian state-owned refineries have previously suspended purchases of Russian oil amid Trump’s tariff threats.
