Third tanker from Arctic LNG-2 arrives in China despite sanctions

A third tanker carrying gas from Russia’s sanctioned Arctic LNG-2 project has arrived in China.
The Russian gas carrier “Zarya” docked at the Tieshan terminal in Guangxi province on September 2, Reuters reported.
The vessel is carrying more than 160,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas, which was loaded at the Arctic terminal in Gydan, northern Siberia, on July 30.
This is the third shipment from Arctic LNG-2 to China in recent weeks. The first shipment arrived in late August on the Arctic Mulan, and the second just a few days ago on the “Voskhod” gas carrier, shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin visited China for the SCO summit and military parade.
China currently remains the main destination for gas supplies from Arctic LNG-2, demonstrating the deepening of energy cooperation between Moscow and Beijing against the backdrop of Russia’s international isolation.
