Zelenskyy: Over 500 tankers of the “shadow fleet” supply Russian oil to circumvent sanctions

The head of state stressed that the so-called tankers of the Russian “shadow fleet” must be stopped, as the vessels become platforms for launching drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this on October 8, speaking to journalists, Suspilne writes.

“They must be stopped completely, then it will have a major impact on energy trade. And also on security in Europe. Because it is precisely such tankers that are among the platforms for launching drones by the Russians,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

In particular, the head of state added that Russian special services were on board the Boracay tanker, which was detained in France on September 30. According to Zelenskyy, the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine provided information to French law enforcement agencies that this tanker with a cargo of crude oil had begun its journey from the Russian Primorsk.

Recall, on October 3, 2025, the Boracay tanker resumed its voyage and was heading to the Suez Canal.
