Lemtrans is preparing two more multimodal terminal projects in Ukraine

Levada Cargo (Lemtrans Group) is preparing to implement two more multimodal container terminal projects.

This was stated by the company’s CEO Volodymyr Demenko at the EU-Ukraine Business Summit 2026 in Brussels, reports Elevatorist.

Currently, both projects are in the preparation stage. In recent years, the company has already built three multimodal container terminals (one of its own and two in partnership). This includes the launch of the Mostyska Dry Port terminal on the border with Poland in 2023, as well as a grain terminal in 2025: together with Rail Trans Investment, they completed the first stage of the Fastiv Container Terminal project in the Kyiv region.

Demenko noted that Ukraine has significant potential for the development of intermodal transportation. Currently, only about 3.8% of cargo is transported in containers, which is almost ten times less than in the EU countries.

At the same time, about 15 million tons of cargo were transported by road between Ukraine and the EU last year (approximately 7.5 million tons in each direction). Even partial containerization of this volume means a large-scale structural shift for the market, Demenko said.

“The transfer of part of the cargo to the railway is not only efficiency, but also a reduction in the load on EU roads and a reduction in CO₂ emissions, which is in line with the goals of the European Green Deal,” he noted.

In his opinion, a key role is played not only by investments in infrastructure, but also by systemic changes: simplification of procedures, harmonization of legislation with EU standards, and increased predictability of the regulatory environment.

Earlier, USM reported that the Mostyska terminal processed more than 47 thousand TEU in 2025.
