Greece believes that the found naval drone went off course

Greek investigators are leaning toward the version that a naval drone found off the island of Lefkada lost control due to a technical malfunction.
Greece is investigating a naval drone that recently washed ashore on the island of Lefkada, Reuters reports.
According to preliminary findings by investigators, the device could have gone off course due to a technical malfunction. Experts believe that the drone was not on the road for long.
One of the key factors for this conclusion was an analysis of the fuel supply, which may indicate a relatively close launch site. Because of this, investigators consider it unlikely that the device could have launched, for example, from the coast of Libya.
The found drone is currently being examined in detail, trying to establish its purpose, route and method of launch – from land or from the side of another vessel. The technical analysis is almost complete, but experts are still working on deciphering some of the encoded data stored on the device.
As a reminder, the drone was discovered by Greek fishermen off the western coast of Lefkada, after which it was handed over to the authorities. Earlier, a number of media outlets suggested that it could be a Ukrainian Magura sea drone. At the same time, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that they had no confirmation of the device’s connection with Ukrainian operators.
The Uforce company, which deals with defense technologies, also clarified that the device found off Lefkada is not a Magura drone.
