Drone-damaged tanker Grace Romavictor runs aground in the Black Sea

The Grace Romavictor tanker, which had previously been damaged near Novorossiysk, has run aground on the Black Sea coast of Turkey.

This was reported by TradeWinds.

The tanker with a deadweight of 50 thousand tons was being towed to the port of Igneada, but during a storm the towing cable broke. After that, the vessel washed ashore in the area of the Chilingoz Natural Park, about 100 km west of Istanbul.

According to CNN Turk, there is no crew or cargo on board the Grace Romavictor.

TradeWinds, citing the Clarksons base, writes that in August the tanker was hit by a drone in Novorossiysk.

On Wednesday, the vessel was towed by the Cameroon-flagged tug Athletic. Due to difficult weather conditions, the tug’s crew decided to seek shelter in Igneada, after which the Grace Romavictor became uncontrollable.

Turkish authorities have launched a new operation to rescue the vessel.
