The UN and Turkey agreed on the movement of 16 vessels through the “grain corridor”
Yesterday, October 30, the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul approved the movement of 16 vessels in Turkish waters under the grain initiative.
“Russia informed about the indefinite suspension of its participation in the implementation of grain initiative measures, including in vessel inspections. At the same time, they expressed readiness “for remote cooperation” and continued contacts with the UN and Turkey,” the UN representation in the Joint Coordination Center reported.
The UN Secretariat will continue to involve representatives of the Coordination Center to implement the goals of the grain initiative and has offered the delegations of Turkey and the UN already today, October 31, to provide their representatives to form 10 inspection groups to inspect 40 vessels. The russian delegation was informed about this plan.
In addition, as noted in the UN, the movement of 16 vessels through the “grain corridor” has already been agreed. Of them, 14 ships are outbound, and 4 are inbound towards Ukrainian ports. The UN Secretariat also informed about this step of the russian representatives in the Joint Coordination Center in accordance with the established procedures.
It is noted that as of October 30, 97 loaded vessels and 15 vessels arriving for inspection were registered in Istanbul. Another 89 vessels applied for passage under the grain initiative. On October 30, there was no movement along the “grain corridor”. There were 21 vessels involved in the grain initiative in or near Ukrainian ports.
