The development of technical and economical justification study on the connection of the EU with Ukraine by the Eurorail has started
The first personal meeting was held regarding the development of a preliminary technical and economic justification for the expansion of the railway network of the European standard 1435 mm to Ukraine and Moldova.
The development of the preliminary feasibility study will be carried out by the JASPERS technical advisory service of the European Investment Bank under the leadership of the Directorate of Mobility and Transport of the European Commission. This was announced by Volodymyr Shemaev, deputy director of the investment activity department of “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
According to Shemaev, the first session on the project was devoted to planning the development of border crossing points.
Earlier, the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced that they are starting work on the preparation of a preliminary feasibility study for the expansion of the railway network of the 1435 mm standard to Ukraine and Moldova, writes TTS.
“The Commission, together with the EIB, is starting to prepare a preliminary feasibility study to assess how best to connect the Ukrainian and Moldovan rail networks with the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T),” the EIB said in a statement on October 21.
The first results of the planned work should be ready by May 2023.
