A delegation from the UN World Food Program visited the port of Odesa

During the visit, the guests were presented with the work of the Odessa Sea Port under martial law.

This was reported by the Odesa branch of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority of Ukraine”.

A delegation of the UN World Food Program (WFP) led by the Acting Executive Director Mr. Karl Skau visited the Odessa port, where they were presented with the work of the port, as well as familiarized with the functioning of the port infrastructure and ensuring the operation of the Ukrainian sea corridor.

It was on the basis of the Odesa Sea Port that the Coordination Center of the State Enterprise “USPA” was established in 2023, which ensures the coordination of ship calls to and from the sea ports of Ukraine.

The Odesa branch of the USPA recalled that the UN WFP uses the ports of Great Odesa to purchase and export Ukrainian wheat and vegetable oil to countries in need of humanitarian food aid. In addition, WFP charters vessels to transport Ukrainian agricultural products within the framework of its own humanitarian operations and the international initiative Grain from Ukraine.

“The visit of the WFP delegation confirmed the importance of the Odesa Sea Port as a key element of Ukraine’s maritime logistics, ensuring the stability of export shipments and contributing to the implementation of international humanitarian initiatives aimed at strengthening global food security,” the USPA emphasized.
