A Russian in Germany is suspected of circumventing sanctions by supplying “sea goods” to the Russian Federation

German law enforcement officers detained a Russian on suspicion of violating sanctions against Russia due to the illegal supply of specialized goods.

Previously, the man used his own company in Germany to purchase equipment subject to sanctions and transfer it to Russia, Tagesspiegel reports.

The Frankfurt prosecutor’s office suspects the detainee of violating Germany’s foreign trade law. According to preliminary data, he could supply Russia with satellite antennas and sonar devices used in deep-sea research. This equipment belongs to the technologies that are subject to sanctions.

Against the background of the investigation, German law enforcement officers conducted searches at six real estate objects, where they seized material evidence that probably confirms the facts of the suspect’s illegal activities.
