A tanker caused an oil spill on a river in Russia

On the Lena River in the Irkutsk region, oil products leaked from a tanker that came to be loaded.

The tanker, which was loaded with diesel fuel, overflowed on the Lena River in the Irkutsk region, rosZMI reports.

At present, the consequences of the spill are being eliminated. Three rows of boom barriers were installed on the site, and a sorbent was used to clean the water area.

An additional vessel was brought to the tanker to transfer fuel to it.

Specialists of the interregional management of “Rosprirodnadzor” were also sent to the scene of the incident.

USM previously reported that two tankers collided on the Lena River in Russia. As a result of the accident, oil products leaked.

The captain of the tanker “Erofei Khabarov” was intoxicated. Therefore, instead of him, the ship was controlled by the assistant captain at the time of the collision.
