Cargo turnover of seaports of Ukraine decreased by 420 thousand tons per day

Since the beginning of the military invasion of Russia, the cargo turnover of the commercail seaports of Ukraine has decreased by 420 thousand tons per day.

This is stated in the GMK Center analysts’ study “Ukrainian sea ports have stopped transshipment of goods“.

Since the beginning of the war, the seaports of Ukraine have been closed due to mine danger, as well as because of the threat of piracy from the ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation. Port stoppages disrupt supply chains and threaten global food security.

In the volumes of transshipment of cargoes of the seaports of Ukraine, the average share of exports is 77.1%. But for individual products, this figure is higher. For example, for grain – 95.6%, ferrous metals – 94.7%, oil (mainly vegetable) – 90.2%.

Currently, only Ukrzaliznytsia, which is overloaded and cannot complete all shipments on time, carries out export transportation.
