From “Khabarovsk” to “Mariupol”: UDS changed the names of 23 vessels

The UDS renamed vessels with Russian names, focusing on Ukrainian cities under occupation.

“They got rid of the figures of the communist regime and Russian cities. During the renaming, emphasis was placed on Ukrainian cities that are related to river/sea transport and are under occupation,” the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company reported.

The list of shipping vessels that already have new Ukrainian names on board:

• tugboats “Boris Makarov”, “Valery Kydyk” (“Zagorsk”), “Sevastopol” (“Zvenigorod”), “Odesa” (“Nikifor Sholudenko”), “Ochakiv” (“Hagra”), “Poti”, ” Henichesk” (“Ivanovo”), “Kremenchuk” (“Irkutsk”), “Linz” (“Astrakhan”), “Mariupol” (“Khabarovsk”), “Mykolaiv” (“Kuzma Galkin”), “Oleshki” (” Chelyabinsk”), “Feodosia” (“Orenburg”);

• self-propelled vessels “Kostyantyn Bozhenko”, “Olexii Ivlev”, “Captain Gaidai”, “Mykola Budnikov”, “Gryhoriy Morozov”, “Captain Antipov”, “Captain Shirkov”;

• service and auxiliary vessel “Kiliyskyi” (“Moskovskiy-2”);

• marine dry cargo vessel “Reni” (“Reni”);

• passenger ship “Tysa” (“Volga”).

“Feodosia, Sevastopol, Genichesk, Mariupol are Ukraine! Ukrainians who remained in the occupied territories should know that we remember them and dream of the day when the yellow-blue flag will once again fly over the entire Kherson Region, Zaporizhzhia, Crimea, and Donbas,” the UDS emphasized.

It is also known that the first to receive new names were vessels undergoing repairs.

To change the name, it is necessary to obtain the opinion of the Shipping Administration commission, prepare a package of documents for making changes to the State Shipping Register of Ukraine, obtain the Certificate of Ownership of the vessel and the Certificate of the right to sail under the State Flag of Ukraine. After that, based on the certificates, classification documents are obtained from the Shipping Register of Ukraine, certificates on the minimum crew size, etc.

It should be noted that the documents for renaming the next batch of vessels are currently being prepared.
