From the estuary of the Dnipro to the Black Sea, polluted masses still enter

The picture is illustrative.

After the terrorist attack by the Russians at the Kakhovska HPP, seawater samples still do not meet all standards.

As of July 10, cholera-like vibrios were isolated in the selected samples of sea water. The samples were taken in the Odesa seaport near berth No. 2, reports the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Cholera-like NAG vibrios are not the causative agent of cholera, but cause acute intestinal infections.

“Although last week there was an improvement in the quality of seawater samples in terms of sanitary-microbiological and sanitary-chemical indicators, the improvement trend is of a short-term nature. The results vary depending on the weather conditions (temperature, wind direction), due to which sediment can rise from the seabed, as well as new polluted water masses can enter from the mouth of the Dnipro River,” the message reads.

Currently, work is ongoing to eliminate the consequences of the explosion of the Kakhovska HPP. In this regard, there is still a danger for the population in terms of visiting places of mass recreation on the coast and when swimming in the Black Sea.

As of July 4, 5% of the samples taken in the area of the river port of Kherson were found to have exceeded parasitological indicators.

As previously reported by USM, an ancient boat was found on the territory of the destroyed Kakhovskyi reservoir.
