Hungarian farmers plan to block the border with Ukraine
Hungarian farmers plan to block one of the checkpoints on the border with Ukraine to express their discontent with the policy of the European Commission.
A protest at the Zakhon-Chop checkpoint is planned for Friday, February 9, Telex reports.
Farmers will protest against the European Commission’s decision to extend duty-free imports of Ukrainian products for another year.
The Association of Hungarian Farmers’ Trade Unions and Farmers’ Unions (Magosz) claims that farmers have to compete with products whose production does not have to meet EU requirements.
“Hungarian farmers support the Hungarian government, which also defends our interests in front of Brussels,” Magosz said in a statement.
We will remind, that Polish farmers plan to block roads and border crossings with Ukraine for an indefinite term.
On Friday, February 9, at 10 a.m., they plan to block border crossings with Ukraine. For what period – it has not yet been announced. In addition, temporary road closures should begin in some voivodeships. They will last from February 9 to March 10.
