MIU introduces new dredging rules
The Ministry of Infrastructure has published a draft of a new order – it approves the methodology for calculating the volume of soil removed during dredging.
The document regulates the mechanism for calculating the volume of soil that is removed during dredging, and which is not required to perform track works.
The draft order was developed in accordance with Article 15 of the Law “On Inland Water Transport”, which comes into force on January 1st. The article provides for measures to maintain the dimensions of the fairway on inland waterways.
After dredging works, soil remains removed during excavation. This raw material is not used in track works, but it can be sold.
So, according to the new methodology, the calculation of the volume of soil is carried out according to the results of preliminary measurements of depths before dredging, as well as the determination of the volume of excavated soil.
The volume of excavated soil should be determined on the basis of alignment survey tack of preliminary and executive measurements.
The calculation of the volumes of the withdrawn soil is carried out by determining cross-sectional area and volume of the recess. When calculating, one of the formulas corresponding to the specific conditions of measurement and condition of the groove. Calculation formulas can be found on the website of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
