MIU urged to cancel demurrage for containers stuck in ports
The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority are taking measures to minimize the losses of Ukrainian importers.
In connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, it is impossible to accept vessels, and the export of containers that have already arrived at Ukrainian ports is significantly difficult, the MIU notes.
According to available information, some participants in the container supply chain began to accrue demurrage for the storage of containers sent to Ukraine before the introduction of martial law.
Due to the difficulties faced by the state of Ukraine, until the end of martial law, the MIU asked all involved persons not to apply demurrage when storing containers both in transshipment ports and in Ukrainian ports.
