New areas of activity of the Shipping Administration have been certified
The Shipping Administration has undergone another certification procedure for the quality management system of service provision.
This was reported by the Head of the Shipping Administration Yevgenii Ignatenko.
According to him, eight new areas of activity have been certified for the first time. Also, five areas that have been certified earlier have received confirmation of compliance with the international requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
“In particular, the area of certification of rank-and-file personnel and approval of training programs for NTZ training and educational and professional programs of advanced training courses in maritime higher education institutions has been certified for the first time,” said Yevgenii Ignatenko.
According to the results of the audit, eight new areas of activity of the Shipping Administration have been certified:
• development of proposals for improving legislative acts, harmonization of provisions of national legislation with the norms of international law;
• informing the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and providing relevant reports;
• provision of services for registration and documentation of seagoing and inland navigation vessels;
• preparation and issuance of qualification documents and ensuring the certification of rank-and-file members of seagoing vessel crews;
• approval of training curricula for seafarers’ training institutions and educational and professional programs of advanced training courses in maritime higher education institutions;
• supervision of the implementation of navigational and hydrographic support in inland and territorial waters;
• monitoring and supervision of the activities of the Maritime Search and Rescue Service;
• granting powers to recognized organizations, monitoring the activities of recognized organizations within the framework of the obligations delegated to them by flag states.
Also, compliance with the international requirements of the quality management system standard was confirmed for the areas of activity of the Shipping Administration that were previously certified:
• supervision over the assignment and confirmation of ranks and qualifications of seafarers, the registration and issuance of qualification documents of seafarers’ crew members by the State Qualification Commission for Seafarers;
• organization and control over the training, retraining and advanced training of seafarers’ crew members;
• maintenance of the State Register of Seafarers’ Documents;
• state supervision over compliance by Ukrainian vessels with the requirements for navigation safety and prevention of environmental pollution (flag state control).
• state supervision over compliance by foreign vessels calling at seaports of Ukraine with the requirements for navigation safety and prevention of environmental pollution (port state control).
