New Defense Minister – Oleksiy Reznikov
Today, during a plenary session, the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament of Ukraine) approved a new Defense Minister.
A new Minister was appointed to replace Andrii Taran, who was dismissed by the Verkhovna Rada yesterday, November 3rd.
Oleksiy Reznikov (55 years old) is a Ukrainian statesman and politician. Vice Prime Minister for the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine from March 4th, 2020 to November 3rd, 2021. June 2014 to December 2015 was the Secretary of the Kyiv City Council. Honored Lawyer of Ukraine. Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe in 2015-2016. Representative of Ukraine in the political sub-working group of the Trilateral Contact Group (from September 18th, 2019 to May 5th, 2020). From May 5th, 2020 – First Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group. Since March 19th, 2020 – Member of the National Security and Defense Council.
Education: 1986-1991 – student of Ivan Franko Lviv State University. Graduated from the Faculty of Law, specialty “jurisprudence”.
