Sybiha: Imports of Russian LNG to the EU should be banned

The Head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on EU countries to ban imports of Russian liquefied natural gas.

Imports of Russian LNG to the EU should be banned as part of further sanctions and replaced with supplies from the US and other partners. This was stated by the Head of the Foreign Ministry Andriy Sybiga.

Thus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine commented on the fact of record imports of Russian LNG by EU countries in 2024.

“There is enough LNG on the market not to finance the criminal Russian regime with its aggression, war crimes and hybrid attacks,” the head of the foreign ministry emphasized.

Despite this, thanks to the already existing EU sanctions, prices for Russian LNG fell by half in December.

As USM wrote, earlier the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania called for new sanctions against Russian LNG.
