The Bureau of Economic Security will be rebooted in Ukraine
In the second reading, the Verkhovna Rada voted for draft law No. 10439 on restarting the Bureau of Economic Security.
People’s deputy of Ukraine Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this.
The bill was supported by 239 deputies. It was agreed with international partners.
Thus, the new head of the Bureau of Economic Security must be elected by a commission of six members, half of whom are international experts with the right to a decisive vote.
The draft law also provides for the re-certification of the Bureau’s employees, which should be carried out by a commission consisting of six people from the new director of the Bureau and six from international partners at the suggestion of Ukrainian business.
Personnel commissions will work for the next three years: six members from Bureau of Economic Security and six from partners.
The project also foresees the need for an annual independent audit of the Bureau with the participation of international experts.
It should be noted that the reform of the Bureau of Economic Security, including the cleansing of the body, is a requirement of the financing program from the International Monetary Fund, as well as under the Ukraine Facility program from the European Union and direct budget support from the USA.
