The reason for the increase in prices for grain trucks became known

Ukrzaliznytsia revealed the reason for the sharp increase in prices for renting grain wagons.

Over the past month, grain exports from Ukraine almost doubled — from 2.890 million tons in September to almost 4.5 million tons in October. Such indicators were achieved thanks to the opening of the Ukrainian sea corridor from the ports of Great Odesa.

Thus, the latest auctions on “Prozorro.Prodazhi” show an increase in the cost of using grain trucks to UAH 2.4-3.7 thousand per day.

Accordingly, in October 2023, the demand for grain transportation by wagons and, in particular, by grain trucks, increased. Thus, according to operational data, 1.075 million tons were transported by railway in September in the export connection. In October, this indicator was already about 1.73 million tons (+61%). This was reported to Rail.Insider by Valeriy Tkachev, the deputy director of the department of commercial work of UZ.

At the same time, the increase in the rental price is influenced by the seasonal increase in the demand for transportation by grain trucks and the increase in the speed of wagons.

Previously, USM wrote that in November the cost of transporting grain in grain trucks increased by almost 67%.
