The second Ukrainian corvette was launched – what is known about it

The corvette “Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi” was launched on Thursday, August 1, in Turkey.

The second multi-purpose ship of the Ada-class corvette “Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi” (F-212) was launched at the RMK Marine shipyard in Istanbul, the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

The ship was built at the military shipyard of the İstanbul Shipyard Naval enterprise on the order of Ukraine.

Ada-class corvettes are armed with a 76-mm Super Rapid naval gun mount manufactured by the Italian company OTO Melara.

A naval version of the Turkish 35-mm anti-aircraft gun Korkut from the Aselsan company is installed above the helicopter hangar.

Corvettes are also equipped with 12.7mm remote-controlled STAMP mounts mounted on the port and starboard sides of the ship.

The F-211 and F-212 are equipped with Thales Sting EO MK2 fire control radars, Aselsan satellite communication systems, ARES-2N electronic warfare systems and Mk 36 SRBOC dipole jamming systems.

“The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska smashed a bottle of champagne against the hull of a ship built for Ukraine. According to naval traditions, it is believed that it was from this moment that the corvette officially received its own name,” the Armed Forces Navy noted.

The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov, Commander of the Naval Forces Oleksiy Neizhpapa, owner of the Baykar company Haliuk Bayraktar and Hero of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev.

We will remind you that in March of this year, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy assigned the name of Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi to the Ada class corvette.
