Those guilty of destroying Ukrainian grain might face 5 years in prison
The District Prosecutor’s Office of Chelm (Poland) initiated a case on the fact of spilling grain from Ukrainian trucks.
The perpetrators of spilling grain at the border are accused of destroying property and violating customs security. This was perpoted by the Polish media “Farmer’.
Law enforcement officers are currently collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. Those involved in the provocation face up to 5 years in prison.
It will be recalled that the incident occurred on February 11 at around 11:30 a.m. near the border crossing in Dorohusk during a farmers’ protest. According to preliminary data, Polish protesters tore off customs seals from three trucks traveling from Ukraine. As a result, according to estimates, about a ton of grain spilled from each truck.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine condemned the deliberate destruction of grain. According to the statement of the department’s press service, this case has nothing to do with peaceful protests. Also, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland, Vasyl Zvarych, appealed to the Polish authorities and the police with a call for a decisive reaction to this incident.
