The SBU reported the suspicion to Yurii Kovalev, a member of the Kherson Regional Council. He refueled Russian tanks and exported grain from the Kherson region to the Russian Federation.

The Security Service collected evidence of high treason against Kherson Regional Council deputy Yurii Kovalev, the SBU reported.

He is currently a member of the occupying “Derzhduma of Kherson region” from Putin’s “United Russia” party and continues to contribute to Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

The figure is the older brother of the traitorous ex-deputy Oleksiy Kovalev, who after the occupation of the regional center publicly supported the “accession” of the region to the Russian Federation and became the “deputy” of Gauleiter Saldo “on matters of agriculture”.

Using the “status” of his brother, Yuriy Kovalev “reoriented” more than 20 controlled companies in the region to the needs of the aggressor country. To do this, he carried out their “re-registration” under Russian legislation.

Among them is a local agricultural holding that shipped almost 35,000 tons of Ukrainian grain to Russia this year for a total of UAH 140 million.

Yurii Kovalev’s companies also regularly finance the budget of the aggressor country in the form of paying “taxes” and “fees”. In August 2022 alone, one of his agricultural companies transferred almost 3 million Russian rubles to the invaders.

On the basis of the collected evidence, Yurii Kovalev was informed of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Art. 111 (treason committed under martial law); Part 5 of Art. 111-1 (collaborative activity).

Since he is in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, comprehensive measures are being taken to bring him to justice.
